Bob begin by bolting the tank into his jig that has a tab to set the tank extensions into to ensure all his tanks come out the same every time.
Once the sheet metal extension is lined up property A brew clamps it down and spot welds it into place.
The first weld is applied at the top of the tank then bob works his way around the tank, making sure the extension fits as snugly as possible.Harley-Davidson,modification

A brew puts forth great effort to ensure the bottom of the tank extension fits as closely as the easily visible top does.
To clean up the open rear portion of the tank extension, a steel filler is welded into place.

Bob then bolts up the other tank and sets the dash into place to make sure that he aligns the other tank extension perfectly before he welds it into place.
The stretched smooth dash ( left) and stretched dash with ignition switch and warning lights that Bob designed for specifically for these stretched tanks are obviously longer than the stock dash ( right).

A couple of totally custom tricks Bob has used on tanks he has built for his personal projects include a front filler panel that takes up the space between the fuel tanks and the frame and a coil box between the tanks to keep the coils out of sight.
